my back cracks when i do the bycicle, is this bad?

BeforeAndAfterTV February 14, 2009 at 8:54 pm

Hi Bronil18, sorry for the late reply, had to check with my sister Carmen to correctly answer your question. Carmen suggests that you ensure that your back is flat on the ground and to raise your legs higher. If your back still cracks when you do this, definitely remove the bicycle from your routine! Thanks for the question, Katie

thanks, that seems to have stopped the cracking

You must be pushing from the wrong bit. You’re using your back to push yourself up while you should be rolling up your shoulders and using your stomach. Hope that helps

hey this is the 1st time that i’m gonna start exercising.i hav a few doubts?
1. can i just do it on the floor without a yoga mat?will that hurt me in any way?
2. should i do these exercises on an empty stomach – like 4 hrs after i eat or as soon as i wake up in the morn?
3. what about water intake?

plz reply.
and thanx for the gr8 vid!

Sorry, I’m not sure why you have back pain when you do sit ups, etc. but it is not uncommon. I would not continue to try to do these type of exercises until you find out what causes the back pain. There may be alternative exercises you can do to strengthen your core without pain.

If you don’t have a yoga mat, you can probably comfortable do these exercises on a carpet. Since you are just beginning, start off slowly – you don’t want to over do it the first time! You will likely find it uncomfortable to do these exercises right after you’ve eaten but you don’t necessarily have to wait 4 hours. If you’ve had a light meal or snack you shouldn’t have a problem. Water intake – I’m really not a nutritional expert but keeping hydrated is important.
